More and more people looks for not surgical and non-invasive option to reduce their body fat but what are really effective?

General Weight Reduction

In weight management, everyone should check their body mass index (BMI) as the index measures the health risk such as Type 2 Diabetic. Waist circumference is another important indicator as the reading reflects the visceral fat distribution.  The risk goes up with a waist size that is greater than 88cm for women or greater than 102cm for men.

If either one of the above indicator is high, general weight reduction is the first step.  Behavioral change such as dietary modification and physical activities is the key to success. Go for low glycemic index diet (Low GI). Failing that, physician can prescribe medication to suppress the appetite and block the fat absorption.  Most people can shed up to 10kg of weight easily with this help. However, behavioral change is necessary to maintain the weight.

Apart from medication, HCG is also found to be effective for general weight reduction in many patients. Compared to medication, there are less palpitation and lethargy.

However, sometimes people just wants to contour their body part especially tummy, flanks, thighs, bra fat, and arms. Then they may consider localized fat reduction.

Cool Sculpting

Zeltiq or Cool Sculpting uses cryolipolysis technique. The cooling panels freeze fatty tissue and trigger a cell-death process known as apoptosis. Dead fat cells are then cleared by the body. The treatment cools fat selectively without harming the healthy tissue, surrounding cells and the skin. Studies have measured at least 20 percent reduction of fat thickness after one treatment. It is FDA cleared for circumferential reduction on the flanks.

During the procedure, a device with cooling panels is strapped onto the area that is being treated. In the first few minutes, you may feel an intense cold feeling that usually goes away. Results are seen in about eight to 16 weeks.

High Intensity Ultrasound

Liposonix uses high-intensity focused ultrasound to noninvasively heat fat to 55 degreesCelsius.  During the treatment, which lasts about 30 to 60 minutes, the doctor will move the device around the treatment area. You may feel discomfort, cold, prickling, tingling or warmth. After the treatment, you may feel mild pain, or experience bruising, redness or swelling.

Skin Tightening
